President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the third edition of the Indian Army’s flagship strategic seminar, Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025, in New Delhi on Wednesday, calling it a platform that will shape the country’s long-term national security vision.

Addressing military leaders, diplomats, scholars and defence strategists, the President said the Indian Armed Forces have consistently demonstrated unmatched professionalism in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. She noted that whether faced with conventional threats, counter-insurgency operations or humanitarian crises, the forces have shown exceptional adaptability and resolve.

  • President underscores Operation Sindoor as a landmark in counter-terror strategy
  • Armed Forces, diplomacy and economy together project a confident, peace-seeking India
  • Army’s transformation, women’s inclusion and future conflict domains take centre stage
  • Dialogue to shape long-term national security and Viksit Bharat 2047 vision

She described Operation Sindoor as a defining moment in India’s counter-terror and deterrence strategy. The world, she said, witnessed not only India’s decisive military capability but also its moral clarity—acting firmly yet responsibly in the pursuit of peace.

The President emphasised that the Armed Forces are not only protectors of national borders but also pillars of national development. Their contribution to infrastructure, connectivity, education and tourism in border regions, she said, strengthens both security and community resilience.

Commenting on the rapidly shifting global geopolitical landscape, she highlighted how emerging domains—cyber, space, information and cognitive warfare—are reshaping the very nature of conflict. Amid these changes, she said India continues to uphold its civilisational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, proving that strategic autonomy can coexist with global responsibility.

She said India’s diplomacy, economic strength and military capability together project a nation that seeks peace but remains prepared to protect its borders and citizens with conviction.

Praising the Army’s ongoing Decade of Transformation, the President acknowledged reforms that aim to make the force future-ready. Structural changes, doctrinal evolution and capability enhancement, she said, would strengthen self-reliance and mission preparedness across all domains.

Highlighting the Army’s focus on human capital, she said efforts to instill patriotism among youth through education, NCC expansion and sports are shaping the next generation of national contributors. She added that the increasing participation of young women officers and soldiers will promote inclusion and inspire more women to join the Army and other professions.

The President expressed confidence that the deliberations of Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025 will equip policymakers with insights crucial for shaping India’s strategic future. She said the Armed Forces, driven by resolve and determination, will continue to play a central role in achieving the national vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
