The India and West Indies Cricket teams arrived Chennai on Thursday afternoon for the first ODI match to be played at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday (December 15).
Team India captain Virat Kohli has posted a picture of himself with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja on Twitter captioned: “Touchdown Chennai @imkuldeep18 @imjadeja”
The two teams will face off in the first match of the three-match ODI series after the host won the T20 International series 2-1 on Wednesday in Mumbai.
The other two ODIs will be played in Visakhapatnam on December 18 and in Cuttack on December 22, respectively.
The teams will have practice session on Friday. The West Indies team will have practice at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium between 9 a.m. and 12 noon and the Indian will practice between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., sources in TNCA said.
TNCA thanks TN Govt for leasing out 3 stands
The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has thanked the state government for its gesture in leasing out three stands for 21 years here on Thursday.
A release issued here by TNCA said, “The members, management, including President Rupa Gurunath, Hon. Secretary R.S. Ramasamy express their grateful appreciation to the Government of Tamil Nadu for having extended the lease of the Chepauk Cricket Stadium for 21 years’’.
The association said that it is now possible to begin the process of regularising the setback at the stadium which will lead to the reopening of the stands I, J and K that were sealed by the authorities long back.
The TNCA said that “this is a great gesture by the Government which shows their abiding interest in this game’’.
