With the advancement in science and technology, future wars between the countries will be fought virtually. To prepare the future-ready defence force, the Rashtriya Raksha University, Gandhinagar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friday with the Army Training Command of Indian Army to setup a Wargame Research & Development Centre at New Delhi, says an RRU release.

The MoU was signed by Colonel Nidhish Bhatnagar, Director, School of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security at RRU and Brigadier Rohan Anand, Sena-Medal, Commandant, WARDEC, Indian Army. Maj Gen Chandran from ARTRAC and Pankaj Sharma, from Tech Mahindra were also present.

Wargames and simulations are essential for the Armed Forces to develop new strategies and tactics as also test the existing ones. They are also a mandatory requirement for training of various levels of persons of the Armed Forces. They allow for realistic scenarios to be simulated and experienced by various formations of the Armed Forces, the statement added.

Speaking on the occasion, Colonel Nidhish Bhatnagar, said, “The Rashtriya Raksha University has enhanced capabilities in domains of Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security, as also defence and strategic studies. Along with Maker’s Lab, which is the Research and Development Division of the Technology Leader, Tech Mahindra, RRU will establish the wargame centre which will incorporate emerging technologies into war game development. This will allow for realistic experience for the users as also evolution of tactics, techniques and procedures. The outcomes of the same will also be an input for shaping of strategies and doctrines of the Indian Army.”

The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance of India, Pioneering National Security and Police University of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is established by the Parliament of India, Act No. 31 of 2020.

The University aims to become an academic-research-training ecosystem for national security and police.  It endeavours to focus on highly professional national security, police education, research, and training through its qualified civilian and security faculty, committed human resources, motivated participants and students, intellectually stimulating and professional disciplined environment, and world-wide network, sharing, and exchange. It aims at providing security and strategic education in the contemporary and futuristic security and strategic studies and interdisciplinary areas. It adopts a two-tier approach, at the national and international levels, in its education, research and training, and extension in order to achieve capabilities to respond to the needs, expectations, and aspirations of the security and strategic institutions and forces as well as law-making, governance, judiciary, economy (agriculture-manufacturing-service sectors) and the civil society organizations.

On 12th March 2022, the University was dedicated to the Nation by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi
