In an impressive ceremony held at Jakhau, Gujarat, Indian Coast Guard Hovercrafts ACV 184 and ACV 185 were recommended for decommissioning on Friday.

Inducted into Indian Coast Guard in December 2001 among the first batch of Hovercrafts into our nation, both the Crafts consistently played a proactive role in Maritime Security and their contributions encompassed a wide range of vital missions-NE photo

These iconic vessels, which have extensively served the nation for over two decades, were bid farewell in an event that commemorated their yeoman service. Inducted into Indian Coast Guard in December 2001 among the first batch of Hovercrafts into our nation, both the Crafts consistently played a proactive role in Maritime Security and their contributions encompassed a wide range of vital missions, including Search and Rescue Operations, Surveillance Patrols for combating poaching and smuggling activities, medical evacuations etc. Due to the amphibious capabilities, the crafts were of significant value in safeguarding front line coasts.

Inspector General AK Harbola, TM, Commander, Coast Guard Region (North-West), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, commemorating the distinguished service rendered by ACV 184 & ACV 185. The decommissioning marks the end of an era for these hovercrafts and was a poignant moment to reflect on the accomplishments and in acknowledging their role in enhancing the Maritime Security of our nation. The Regional Commander commended the dedication and professionalism of the personnel who served on these hovercrafts, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to safeguarding our coastal boundaries.

As these hovercrafts retire from active duty, the Coast Guard recognizes and appreciates the legacy they leave behind. The ceremony stands as a testament to the continuous efforts of our maritime forces in ensuring the safety and security of our coastal waters.
