The district of Navsari and adjacent areas have been marooned by exceptional heavy rainfall in the last few days. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) received a request from the Office of Commissioner of Relief, Govt. of Gujarat, Gandhinagar on Thursday, for assistance to rescue locals of village Golvad and Fadvel, Chikhali Taluka, near Kaveri river in Navsari District, trapped due to flash floods on banks of river Kaveri.

In extremely inclement weather conditions and marginal visibility, the Indian Coast Guard Air Station Daman swiftly pressed into action and promptly launched CG Chetak helicopter CG 802 at 1255 pm.
In the extremely challenging weather conditions of 20 to 25 knots of winds, blinding rain and marginal visibility, the aircraft reached the area and after extensive search a total of six precious lives battling the weather and stranded in various locations were saved and evacuated to safe locations.
The rescue operations are in progress in coordination with NDRF and State Disaster Management team.
