The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship C-409 undertook a medical evacuation of a fisherman from the Arabian Sea on Wednesday. The patient was safely brought to Pipavav and shifted to Civil Hospital at Hanumanta, Mahuva.
“On Wednesday, November 22, ICG Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) Pipavav received a distress alert from K Solanki, Fishing Association Member, Jafrabad regarding a medical emergency onboard IFB Asht Vinayak about 25 kms from Pipavav. The Coast Guard Ship C-409 was diverted from an Op deployment to provide necessary assistance. Indian Coast Guard Ship C-409 evacuated and provided medical relief to a seriously injured fisherman. The injured person Channabhai, 55 yrs was taken onboard C-409 and diagnosed preliminarily as head injury over left forehead. Casualty was treated with antiemetic, intra venous fluids and sterile dressing of the wound. The casualty was transferred to Pipavav jetty and handed over to boat owner Narshibhai and further shifted to civil hospital, Hanumanta, Mahuva,” an ICG release said.
