The Indian Navy team has bagged 5 Gold and 2 Silver medals at the 65th Inter Services Weightlifting Championship conducted at INS Valsura from Sunday to Tuesday. The event was conducted under the aegis of INSCB. The three-day championship was conducted in 10 categories.
Vice Admiral Sreekumar Nair, DGNP (V), was the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes. Two teams from the Indian Army (Army Red and Army Green) and one team each from the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force competed in each category.
The Indian Navy team was declared winners of the championship with 5 Gold and 2 Silver medals and scoring 75 points. The Army Red team was runners-up with 3 Gold and 4 Silver, while Army Green finished third, bagging 6 medals.
L Sadananda Singh Sea II (GW) of Indian Navy was adjudged Best Weightlifter at the event.
