NE EDUCATION BUREAU

AHMEDABAD, SEPT 12

As we move towards the third quarter of 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the UK’s highly-regarded institutions – the University of Huddersfield, as well as the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre, announced plans to reopen its campus  for international students, including those from India starting their studies in September. The University of Huddersfield International Study Centre will deliver as many face-to-face interactions as possible supported by virtual, teacher-led learning and is committed to supporting international students with their successful progression to degree level study at the University of Huddersfield.

Integrated study visa open news vistas for Indian students

In the wake of the global pandemic and locked international borders, the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre moved all its course online. With the centre reopening for the autumn 2020 term, international students will now benefit from a number of face-to-face classes and receive an integrated study visa issued by the university. The integrated study visa will be offered on the basis of the entire duration of their studies, including their pathway programme at the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre and the progression to their university programme. The visa will let them live and work in the UK, as well as accessing placement opportunities during their course. After completing a degree programme, Indian students can stay and work in the UK for up to two years.

Students’ safety & reopening of campus

Emphasising their target to reopen the university, Shamim Ghani, Head of International Projects at the University of Huddersfield affirmed, “We are making plans to safely welcome staff and students back to campus in late September.  We aim to deliver as much face-to-face teaching as possible, which includes providing students with access to our teaching facilities such as the library, laboratories, studios, and music facilities. Access will prioritise student safety adhering to the government’s guidance on social distancing.”

International Study Centre opens in November

If students are unable to arrive in the UK to begin their pathway programme in September, there is now the option to begin either the International Foundation Year or International Year One in November. Students starting at the International Study Centre in November will complete their pathway programme and progress to the University of Huddersfield (upon successfully achieving the progression requirements) at the same time as students who start their pathway programme in September. We encourage students who are travelling from countries subject to the UK government quarantine to arrive two weeks earlier than their course start date, to allow for quarantine prior to the start of their course.

Study Group lends a helping hand

Speaking about the recent integrated visa announcement, James Pitman, Managing Director of Study Group said, “We have worked in close partnership with the University of Huddersfield for over a decade now and the fact that the University is issuing visas to our students for the duration of their studies shows the level of trust they place in us and the quality of our students.

This opportunity reduces the cost and risk to students and is available on our fast-track Pre-Master’s Business Programme and International Year One programmes.

In these uncertain times, we are pleased to be able to provide such peace of mind and enable students to seamlessly continue their studies in the UK.”

Global Teaching Excellence Award

The UK Government Teaching Excellence Framework awarded the University top ranking for its teaching noting that “the University delivers consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students”. In 2017, leading educationalists from around the Global Teaching Excellence Award said, “This University is truly inspiring and innovative” and all University of Huddersfield permanent teaching staff are Fellows of the Higher Education Academy.

Campus placement, an added advantage

According to Myronne Jaime De Souza, a current student at the University of Huddersfield, said, “My course offers a sandwich opportunity, which appealed to me a lot. Meeting new people and learning more about English culture along with studying for my degree, are what I enjoy the most about being at the university. My main task after graduating will be to try and secure a job with top IT companies such as Microsoft, Apple and Google. The fact that the university is connected to many top companies gives me confidence that I will be able to achieve my goal.”
