Stating that present-day graduates of professional courses excel in theoretical knowledge but lack the much-needed practical knowledge of the industries, Inductotherm India Managing Director Naishadh Parekh offered one-year graduate apprenticeships to the Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM) students. He also hinted that the industry’s relentless move up the value chain sets the stage for fruitful long-term academic partnerships, and its corporate social responsibility (CSR) focus opens new channels for engagement with research institutions like IITRAM.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a state-of-the-art 15 kW Induction Heating & Melting System worth Rs 17 lakh at IITRAM’s Mechanical Workshop, generously donated by Inductotherm (India) Pvt. Ltd. as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
In his address at the IITRAM, Naishadh Parekh said, “Present-day graduates of professional courses excel in theoretical knowledge but lack the much-needed practical knowledge of the industries when they come out of their institutes. To make them future-ready, we offer one-year graduate apprenticeships to the Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM) students. Those who successfully complete this apprenticeship will be subjected to a stringent clearance test and will be absorbed by the company. Initially, they will be posted for field work of after sales service for a minimum period of five years. Their customer-centric problem-solving skills will make them eligible for working in the industrial unit.”
Talking about the industry-academia collaborations, Inductotherm Managing Director said, “We invite the students and the Faculty of IITRAM to visit our plant in Sanand to get a hands-on experience of our functioning. Later on, we will harness the amalgam of deep and long-term research, and solid execution focus, which will result from academia-industry collaboration, representing a potent combination. These are exciting times for industry-academia collaborations for the mutual benefit of both.”
Earlier, Inductotherm Senior General Manager – Customer Care SR Subramanian, dwelt at length on the establishment of Inductotherm in India and its growth over a period of 40+ years and also its parent company in US. He also opened many vistas for the IITRAM students in the metal industry with powerful presentations.
IITRAM Director-General Prof. P.K. Jain said, “We compliment the management of Inductotherm (India), especially Managing Director Naishadh Parekh, for their generous donation of a 15 kW Induction Heating & Melting System to IITRAM’s Mechanical Workshop, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The newly inaugurated facility is designed for ferrous and non-ferrous casting, rapid heating, hot forging, and heat treatment applications, enhancing IITRAM’s capability to provide hands-on industrial training. We look forward to working together with Inductotherm for a longerterm to further our research and development.”
Prof. M.K. Barua, Director, IITRAM and Dr Deepak Kumar Gupta, HoD of Mechanical and Aerospace Department also spoke at the event.
