Innovation, hygiene, quality and timely deliveries are the main ingredients of the food sector in particular and others in general, said a top official of an Indian restaurant aggregator and food delivery start-up.
Speaking at an online session of FICCI FLO Ahmedabad Chapter, Zomato Founder and COO Gaurav Gupta said, “Covid-19 has completely changed the world around us and we have to adopt new techniques, strategies and plans to remain relevant in future. The present is very critical for all of us and as a leading food delivery platform, Zomato has taken innovative steps to ensure safe food deliveries at the doorstep of the customers while maintaining quality”.
“The lockdown has significantly impacted food orders, but post-COVID-19 our monthly orders have reached the one million mark. Delivery of ordered food in minimum time, with the assurance of quality & hygiene to customers, is very important and we diligently adhere to it. Kitchen hygiene and raw material ratings are a part of the sales window. To create a better food experience for the customer, we provide them options like Zomato Gold, Zomato Pay & Zomato Pro,” Gupta added.
Talkin at length on the growth of the food sector, Gupta said, “The food industry has expanded exponentially in many business models over the last five years. Online food order service is a revolution in the Food Industry, and Zomato has consolidated its position with its innovative offerings. In India, a person consumes an average of 100 meals in a month out of which he/she would have ordered food online, approximately 3 or 4 times. Zomato is focusing on the ramping up of these numbers and online orders.”
Chairperson of FICCI FLO Ahmedabad chapter Taruna Patel, who is also CEO of Madhuban Resort & Spa said, “Post-COVID-19, the customer emphasis is more on healthy food with stringent hygiene parameters. Due to this, the demand for organic food has gone up.”
