In the wake of incessant and heavy rains reported in Jamnagar and Rajkot on request from District civil administrations, naval humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) teams, consisting of naval divers with support gear, was dispatched at short notice from INS Sardar Patel to Rajkot and INS Valsura to Jamnagar on Monday evening. Some more teams joined the rescue mission on Tuesday, says a Defence release
One of the teams will report to District Authorities at Rajkot and join rescue efforts as required. Six more teams are ready to for augment the ongoing civil rescue efforts in affected areas.

Similarly, INS Valsura deputed five teams comprising 75 personnel equipped with six boats and rescue material for rescue mission and food distribution to the stranded people due to floods in Jamnagar. Teams were deputed to various location along with the boats, teams rescued close to 400 people, including elderly people and a pregnant lady. In addition, a food distribution team was deputed and distributed food to around 600 stranded people on Monday night.
Further one more team with food was deputed on 14th morning where food and water distributed at three locations for more than 300 people. Naval teams are also providing dry ration to the stranded citizens.
Senior naval authorities are in constant liaison with civil administration to offer any help needed in flood relief activities. More rescue teams have been kept standby to be dispatched at short notice.
