AHMEDABAD, DEC 5
As a part of Navy Week celebrations 2021, Beating the Retreat and Sunset Ceremony were conducted at INS Valsura on Saturday, says a Defence release.
‘Beating Retreat’ marks a centuries old military tradition, when the troops ceased fighting, sheathed their arms and withdrew from the battlefield and returned to their camps at sunset at the sounding of the retreat. In addition to soul touching performances played by the Naval Band, Continuity Drill, PT and Mashaal Display also formed part of the evening events.
Various tunes such as Colonel Bogey, Vande Mataram, Jai Bharati, Sare Jahan se Achchha, etc played by the Naval Band enthralled the audience before the Naval Ensign was lowered, the statement added.
