International Yoga Day was celebrated at the South Western Air Command Headquarters, Gandhinagar on Friday with full enthusiasm by the service personnel and their family members. The tenth International Yoga Day was celebrated at all Air Force Stations under South Western Air Command (SWAC) with various activities, says a release.
Yoga and meditation session was conducted as per common yoga protocol issued by the Ministry of Ayush. The yoga session included various asanas (stretching, standing, sitting, prone, supine and breathing exercises etc) and meditation.
Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Seva Medal, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command and Mrs Richa Tiwari, AFFWA President (Regional) attended the session and interacted with participants at the event.
AOC-in-C exhorted participants to include yoga in their everyday schedules, for overall health and wellbeing.

Konark Corps celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day with immense enthusiasm and fervour at all military stations in Rajasthan and Gujarat under the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’.
At Jodhpur itself, more than 1000 army personnel and their families participated in the event conducted as per Common Yoga Protocol.
The event was conducted in association with Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University which has been providing crucial support to the Indian Army in all its wellness initiatives. Dr PK Prajapati, Vice Chancellor of the University graced the grand event as well. Konark Corps Yoga Day witnessed spirited participation and the sessions included a combination of traditional asanas, breathing exercises and meditation signifying unity of mind and body as well as thought and action. Expert yoga instructors also focused on therapeutic yoga to prevent and rehabilitate injuries, pranayama for stress relief and meditation techniques for mental peace and clarity.
Yoga Day Celebrations in the Konark Corps had commenced on 09 June 2024 itself and included diverse activities like lectures, walkathon, painting competitions and tree plantation drives. The highlight of the celebrations, however, were yoga events organised in the border villages of Laungewala, Tanot, Shahgarh, Ramsar and Khavda amongst others in which more than 8000 people participated. In the Thar Deserts, Rann and Creek Sectors, all ranks organised large scale yoga sessions underscoring the versatility and adaptability of yoga practices even in the most challenging locations and climatic conditions.
Celebrations of the International Yoga Day by the Konark Corps is a testament to its commitment for the wellbeing of its personnel and their families. By integrating yoga into their daily lives, troops have not only enhanced their physical capability but also built mental resilience and spiritual strength. This holistic approach to life is essential for maintaining the highest levels of readiness and effectiveness towards service of the Nation. Indian Coast Guard celebrated the International Yoga Day with enthusiasm and befitting zeal across all ICG Stations in Gujarat. While the ICG Regional Headquarters (North West) celebrated the day at the
ICG Lekawada Campus, Gandhinagar, the District Headquarters at Porbandar and Okha and ICG Stations at Veraval, Piavav, Mundra, Vadinar, Jakhau & Surat held concurrent events.
The International Yoga day is marked annually on 21 June on global scale since 2015 and Yoga has gained huge popularity worldwide due to its ability to enhance flexibility, strength, balance and overall fitness.
ICG has been taking initiatives to promote the practice among its rank and file and also in their family members by including Yoga sessions in morning PT schedules. Officers and personnel who are usually deployed in strenuous duties find the practice useful for both Body and Mind. To enhance the reach of Yoga, ICG has implemented daily practice sessions from World Environment Day i.e. 05 June 2024 onwards this year. Also, walkathons and community drives were organized in past weeks to spread the message.
The celebration of International Yoga Day at Gandhinagar by the Regional Headquarters and at various locations in Gujarat by ICG units witnessed participation by rank and file along with their family members, notably children. The overall aim to inculcate the enriched practice into daily life for the well being of body and soul was befittingly spread amongst the community.
