Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local) feted Padma Shri Pappammal in recognition of her contribution to organic farming here on Thursday, says a Defence release.
The International Women’s Day was celebrated at Air Force Administrative College, under the aegis of Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local) (AFWWA (L) to commemorate the cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements of women in India.
Pappammal, an organic farmer and a proud recipient of India’s fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri for the year 2021 for her remarkable contribution in organic farming, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
During the function, Padma Shri Pappammal was felicitated by Poonam Verma, President, AFWWA (L). In her address, the chief Guest urged all the ladies that “Everyone should think that if they can take one step ahead, that step will open ways for them”.
