A natural farming seminar on paddy cultivation will be conducted in Arcot on behalf of Isha’s Save Soil Movement on Sunday. Hundreds of farmers from all over Tamilnadu are expected to participate in the event.
Various pioneering farmers and agronomists will deliver keynote addresses at the seminar, which will be held at Sri Mahalakshmi College of Nursing, Villapakkam.
The highlight of this event will be Nagaratnam’s Naidu’s session who is going to talk about technologies for high yield in paddy. He has made record-breaking cultivation of 90 sacks of paddy (7000 kg) from 2 kg of paddy seeds. Also, entomologist Poochi Selvam is going to speak about insects and diseases that harm paddy growth and methods of identifying and controlling beneficial and harmful pests.

Further, Lakshmi Devi, a farmer from Ambasamuthram is going to share her experiences about the techniques she followed in paddy cultivation and methods of getting high yields in traditional varieties. She was awarded by the Tamil Nadu government for the highest yield in traditional rice cultivation.
Dinesh Mani from Madurai is going to train farmers on how to create value in traditional cultivation and marketing it. Apart from this, an exhibition and sale of traditional seeds, and an exhibition of weeding tools will also be held in this seminar.
