Come April first week, it will be ‘Weddings Vows’ with a difference for 101 underprivileged couples, including differently-abled, in Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu. The Chennai-based ‘Wedding Vows’ magazine organizes `WV Connect 2023’ to bring over 500 wedding planners under one roof at the scenic Mahabalipuram from across the globe.
Announcing this at a press conference on Tuesday, N DakshinaaMurthi, CEO, WV Connect, said, “Wedding Vows is organizing this kind of summit for over a decade. The purpose of organizing such summits is to connect wedding planners like decorators, caterers to event management etc. Already, a considerable no of wedding planners from various cities in India and across the globe have registered their participation and it is expected that the registration would cross 500.”

The summit has been organized at scenic Mahabalipuram to align with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to promote wedding destinations recently.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his post budget webinar expressed that “These days even the middle-class and upper-middle class are opting for destination weddings. Special packages can be announced for such destinations. This will encourage people to hold their wedding ceremony in different states, people from Gujarat will be excited to hold their rituals in Tamilnadu style,” Dhakshinamurthy added.
He said, the summit is also attracting top International wedding planners from around the world to showcase India as a wedding destination and what it can offer. To name a few, Meltem Bayazit Tepeler (Turkey), Gabriele Rizzi (Italy), Sakul Intakul (Thailand), Gideon Hermosa (Philippines), Hemant Dadlani (Sri Lanka).

CSR initiative: 101 marriages to be solemnized for poor couples
As part of WV’s CSR initiative 101 Weddings to be solemnized on April 5, to fulfill the vision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to develop tourism industry, said N DakshinaaMurthi.
This will serve India and its culturally diverse states on a world platter as a preferred destination for weddings. Marriage of 101 couples, including the economically backward & differently abled, will be solemnized on free of cost, which would cost around Rs 1 crore.
This auspicious ceremony will set the cornerstone for making destination weddings accessible and not just a dream for millions of Indians. It will no longer be just for celebrities and the upper class but also cater to the other side of the spectrum. There’s always a pricey connotation attached to destination weddings and the majority only think of Udaipur or Lake Como. Just like Mahabalipuram, there are several other undiscovered gems that can offer a variety, be it for the luxurious or the budget segment”’ says N DakshinaaMurthi, CEO of Wedding Vows.

In the end, the highlight of the event was 4 couples were introduced out of 101 couples who are going to get married at Mahabalipuram.
