The week-long Indian Army Scout Master Competition was organised at Jaisalmer Military Station from Monday, February 10 to Sunday, February 16, 2020. A total of six teams comprising two teams each from Southern Command, South Western Command, and Western Command participated in the competition.
The competition was conducted in five stages – Infiltration & Ambush Exercise, Scout Specialists Course, Scout Trail Obstacle Course, Small Arms Firing and Floatation & Exfiltration Exercise over seven days.
The competition assessed not only the team’s technical proficiency and skills of specialized scouts under battleground conditions but also put to test the professional acumen as well as the physical and mental robustness of reconnaissance specialists scouts.
Based on the performances of the teams in the different stages, the Southern Command team was adjudged as the overall winner of the IASM Competition 2020.
The winning team was felicitated by Lieutenant General Anil Puri, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding Konark Corps. The General Officer lauded the standards of teams showcasing their ‘Operational Capability’, ‘Proficiency in handling Weapons & Equipment’ and ‘Preparedness for war’ during the competition.
