The Tamil Nadu women’s wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, a socio-religious organisation, on Thursday said that they would embark on a 10-day drive to inculcate family values, underscore shared values, and develop methods to deal with issues like domestic violence.

The 10-day campaign on “Strong Family, Strong Society’’ will begin on Friday across the nation. As part of this initiative, various programmes, including inculcating tolerance among the young couple and family members to lead a peaceful and happy co-existence will be undertaken, said A Fathima, State Assistant Orgniser, Women’s wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) here.
Addressing reporters, Fathima said, the campaign has been chalked out in such a way that it would create awareness that strength and success of a society depend upon the strength and peace that prevails within the four walls in each home.
It will also explain in detail the dangers of the pursuit of happiness and peace outside marriage and the importance of morality as the guiding rule in human relationships.
JIH will educate the duties of every member of family in establishing peace and justice and creating a suitable environment to nurture future generations and protect their rights and respect the old and weak and bring into public discussion the common family values cutting across caste and creed.
The campaign will be held in tier-II and tier-III cities across the state and the nation from Friday, she said.
Fathima said, “Family is the basic structural and functional unit of a flourishing society. Its strength and stability constitute the core of a healthy society. They provide the most intimate social environment to a family – a place where a human being begins the vital process of socializing and learning partnership with the near ones, which eventually helps to survive and thrive in society.
A family is an institution where social values of love and mercy are nurtured. Responsibility, sharing, and commitment towards one another, as well as accountability in all things, said or done, are also a few values instilled in this institution.’’
The JIH would hand over a set of 40 questionnaires to families irrespective of their religions on this subject through various modes such as – community gathering, door-to-door campaign, etc.
After the campaign is over, the questionnaire will be collected and based on this survey, necessary action for bringing peace, harmony among the families will be undertaken, if necessary families would be counselled with the help of qualified psychiatrists.
