GOWRI MANICKAVASAGAM
There is no ban on garba in the virtual world. One can enjoy the music and masti of Navratri with his loved ones from the comforts of home with gay abandon. And also relish divine prasads without any worry about the pandemic.
Building on the excitement of Navratri, Jio on Friday launches a unique initiative, ‘Jio Digital Navratri’ that enables Gujaratis all across to celebrate this festive season via the digital route.
This ‘Jio Digital Navratri’ event combines the spirit of Garba, while maintaining the social distancing, thus celebrating our distinct cultural Heritage with a contemporary world-class digital experience.
Starting Friday, October 23, Garba revellers across the world can now celebrate the festival of Navratri in the comfort of their homes with their friends and family, dancing to songs and tunes of famous artists that include Kirtidan Gadhvi, Kinjal Dave, Osman Mir, Arvind Vegda, Devang Patel and Mirande Shah.
Adding to the excitement, viewers can participate and win prizes in various categories, including the best traditional dress, the best singer, and the best dance garba moves contest. Contestants across all age groups from four different categories, including male, female, kids, and couple will need to send in a 30 secs video showcasing their talent to be eligible.

Gujarati folk singer and ‘Bhai Bhai’ song fame, Arvind Vegda said, “The online garba is the ultimate solution at the time of Covid19 outbreak. This platform does not make you feel that you are missing anything. This is the best platform bridging the gap between revelers and us.”
Songwriter and singer, Mirande Shah said, “Thanks to Jio for coming up with this online platform, we are now able to reach to millions of our audience. The arrangements are so comfortable that we will be able to follow the new normal rules of social distancing and at the same time, we will go live with our performance.”
In India, Jio has over 40 crore mobile subscribers, including over 2.47 crore users in Gujarat, by end of July 2020. With this, Jio becomes the fastest telecom company in India to cross the milestone of 40 crore user base in less than four years.
