CHENNAI, APR 12

The Out-Patient Department (OPD) services at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research will remain closed on April 14, 2026 (Tuesday) on account of Ambedkar Jayanti, observed as a Central Government holiday.

  • Ambedkar Jayanti declared Central holiday; routine consultations suspended
  • Avoid unnecessary visits; reschedule appointments accordingly
  • Emergency Services to function round-the-Clock without disruption

Hospital authorities have urged patients to avoid visiting for OPD consultations on the said day and plan their visits accordingly.

“In view of the above, patients are advised not to visit JIPMER for OPD consultations on the said day.”

However, ensuring uninterrupted patient care, the institute clarified:

“Emergency services at JIPMER will continue to function without any interruption to ensure uninterrupted critical care for patients.”

Patients are advised to reschedule routine appointments and utilise emergency services only for urgent medical needs.
