The National Company Law Tribunal Member Justice Ajai Das Mehrotra delivered the inaugural address in the one-day conference on `Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code’, organized by Committee on Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Ahmedabad Chapter here on Saturday.
Justice Ajai Das Mehrotra was chief guest in the seminar, which was hosted by Ahmedabad Chapter  of the ICAI.

This One-Day Conference was organized by Committee on Insolvency & Bankruptcy of ICAI on Saturday, 16th of September, 2023 under the leadership of CA Aniket Sunil Talati, President, ICAI and hosted by Ahmedabad Branch on Insolvency and Bankruptcy. CA (Dr.) Debasish Mitra, immediate past president of ICAI was one of the expert speakers.

The Chief Guest Honorable Justice Ajai Das Mehrotra shared on the evolvement of IBC in a short span of time and stressed upon the importance of stakeholders, including NCLT, for ensuring effective resolution within stipulated timeline. Further, consideration of separate rules for IBC cases was also deliberated.

CA (Dr.) Debasish Mitra, immediate past president of ICAI, emphasized that the IPs play a core role in the IBC framework of resolution and are required to upgrade their skill set with evolving needs. CA Dr Anjali – Chairperson, ICAI-Ahmedabad and CA IP. Sunit Shah, Chairperson – Insolvency Study Group –  IBC Committee also shared their insights on the emerging challenges and the growing opportunities for professionals in this space.

The Conference marked presence of 12+ Influential speakers, including Sr. Adv Arvindh Pandian, Dr. Risham Garg, Sr. Adv Anoop Rawat, Adv (CA). Nipun Singhvi, IP. Venkatachalam Varanasi, Adv. Ananat Merathia, CA. S. Badri Narayanan, IP. Satish Gupta, Adv. Swarupama Chaturvedi, IP Nirav Pujara,  CA ( Dr.) Durgesh Pandey, Mr. Bhavesh Modi, IP. Pooja Bahry,  Ritesh Kavdia (IBBI) & CS. Ravi Kapoor who shared their expertise and deliberated on IBC.

The conference gave a conducive environment for interaction and productive learnings with three panel discussions and special addresses.

Attended by more than 100+ participants across India including CA, CS, CWAs, Lawyers, bankers and other practitioners ,  the conference was a continuation to the inaugural overseas convention of ICAI on insolvency which was convened at Singapore.
