Kalorex Group of Schools in association with Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, organised a special virtual session on space technology for students from classes 9 to 12 on Thursday. The session was organised to honour the legacy of Dr Vikram Sarabhai, widely regarded as the father of the Indian space programme. Each year, his birth anniversary on August 12 is celebrated as National Remote Sensing Day.
The virtual session covered a range of topics, including an introduction to the life and achievements of Dr Sarabhai. The students were captivated by the narrative of his pioneering work that laid the foundation for India’s advancement in space science, technology, and applications.
The highlight of the event was a session where Rinku Agrawal and Jaimin Tanna, senior scientists from SAC, ISRO, shared insights and updates on space technology and recent developments in the field, offering a glimpse into the forefront of space science. A significant portion of the session was dedicated to the latest developments of Chandrayaan 3, ISRO’s lunar mission. Students were provided with insights into the mission’s objectives, technological innovations, and its potential impact on our understanding of the moon.
Students from DPS East (Ahmedabad), DPS Mehsana, Kalorex Future School Ahmedabad, DPS Bopal, Kalorex Future School Mundra, Narmada Calorx Public School Bharuch and Saurabh English School Ahmedabad participated in the session.
