The Karaikal Campus of Pondicherry University is scripting a dynamic phase of expansion and innovation, with Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu inaugurating a series of academic, green and infrastructure initiatives that signal a new growth trajectory for the campus.

Comfez’26: Bridging Classrooms and Corporates
The Department of Commerce hosted Comfez’26, a two-day Industry–Institute Interface Programme and Intercollegiate Competition, graced by the Vice-Chancellor. The event brought together nearly 400 students from 14 higher educational institutions across Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, fostering dialogue between academia and industry.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Prakash Babu emphasized the importance of strengthening academia–industry collaboration and underscored the need for skill development, innovation and entrepreneurial orientation among students.
Twelve competitive events were conducted, with Avvaiyar Government College for Women, Karaikal, clinching the Overall Championship. Industry experts interacted with participants, offering practical insights and professional mentorship—reinforcing employability and industry readiness.
Green Campus Drive: “Plant a Tree – Nurture a Hope”
Promoting environmental sustainability, the Vice-Chancellor launched a Tree Plantation Programme under the evocative slogan: “Plant a Tree – Nurture a Hope (Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam)”
By planting saplings and addressing faculty, staff and students, Prof. Prakash Babu highlighted the importance of ecological responsibility and sustainable campus development. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation, reaffirming Karaikal Campus’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
Digital Identity: Chronicles of Karaikal Campus
In a forward-looking move to strengthen institutional documentation and digital outreach, the Vice-Chancellor formally launched the “Chronicles of Karaikal Campus (CKC–PU)” initiative.
Outlining the vision behind the platform, he explained that it would serve as a unified framework under which all major upcoming events of the Karaikal Campus will be conducted and systematically documented. The initiative reflects the campus’s progressive outlook and commitment to enhancing its institutional identity and communication strategy.
Infrastructure Boost with ONGC Support
Further enhancing campus amenities, an Advanced Drinking Water Purification (RO) Plant was inaugurated with support from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Cauvery Asset.
The Vice-Chancellor formally declared the facility open and appreciated the collaborative support extended by ONGC. The installation ensures safe and hygienic drinking water for students, faculty and staff—significantly upgrading essential campus infrastructure.
Collectively, these initiatives underscore Karaikal Campus’s emergence as a vibrant hub of academic excellence, sustainability and student-centric development within Pondicherry University’s expanding educational ecosystem.
