CHENNAI, JULY 26

Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti, the silver jubilee of India’s victory in the Kargil War against Pakistan, was celebrated with great pride and fervour by the Chennai Military Station. A wreath-laying ceremony was also organised on the occasion at the Victory Memorial here on Friday.

“The occasion marks the 25th anniversary of the Indian Army’s glorious victory in the Kargil War, a conflict that is a reminiscence of undaunted bravery and courage of the Bravehearts who inscribed a golden chapter in history with their blood and supreme sacrifice,” a press statement issued by the Defence PRO said.

In a solemn ceremony organised at the Victory Memorial, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and General Officer Commanding-Dakshin Bharat Area of Indian Army, Lt Gen Karanbir Singh Brar laid wreaths at the Victory Memorial and paid homage to the brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Governor RN Ravi interacted with the Kargil War heroes, veterans and veernaris after the solemn ceremony. NCC students also attended the event to celebrate the victory of the Armed forces.
