  • True to its tagline – One State, Many Worlds – Karnataka has something for every kind of tourist – adventure, spiritual, cultural, wellness, eco-tourism and cinematic tourism

GOWRI MANICKAVASAGAM
AHMEDABAD, AUG 22

Claiming that the Silicon of India, Bengaluru, has over 5-lakh strong Gujaratis, 20 percent of the domestic tourists to Karnataka are Gujaratis and their contribution to the state’s development is immense, Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar, IAS, Director, Karnataka Tourism wooed Gujaratis to visit Karanataka, the heaven on earth, and explore it.

In his inimitable style to hard sell Karnataka, Dr Manohar, a Tamil, introduced himself as the proud son-in-law of Gujarat married to Divya Prabhu, a Saurashtrian, also an IAS officer who studied in Tamil Nadu. In the Indian tradition, son-in-laws are pampered a lot. And Gujarat will certainly do it by giving him royal treatment and support his endeavour to succeed.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar, IAS, Director, Karnataka Tourism, said, “I started my tourist guide career when I was 15 years of age and it helped me to meet my educational expenses. Thus tourism has the potential to facilitate simultaneous earning and learning. True to its tagline – One State, Many Worlds – Karnataka has something for every kind of tourist – adventure, spiritual, cultural, wellness, eco-tourism and cinematic tourism. Thus we provide a wide range of tourist attractions to meet the needs of various visitor demographics. Our state is blessed with a rich cultural heritage and is home to numerous forts, architectural wonders, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Other varied tourist attractions include national parks, seaside sceneries, and pilgrimage sites.”

He added that “Karnataka has an abundance of natural beauty, including the Western Ghats, a site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This mountain range is renowned for its great diversity of flora and fauna. The state has 35 wildlife sanctuaries and five national parks. It is also home to over 100 species of animals, and 600 species of birds, including 524 tigers and over 6,000 elephants, making Karnataka, truly India’s wildlife capital. Recently, the G20 delegates were given a short insight into the state’s rich biodiversity and stunning wildlife during the excursion”.

With the best law and order, the state offers safest travel for solo women tourists with homestay facilities. Kannadigas generally speak Hindi, English while those in tourism industry are fluent in other Indian and foreign languages. Along with famous Mysuru food, tourists can also have their authentic regional delicacies at tourist spots. Karnataka has better air and rail connectivity from the major cities of Gujarat. Hence, it is an ideal tourist destination, Dr Manohar said.
