Ahmedabad’s prestigious Karnavati Club not only ushered in early Diwali celebrations for its members by hosting Gujarat’s largest bumper housie with Rs 1.25 crore in prizes, but has also managed to find a place in the record books.
As many as 6,000 people participated in the housie event, which was organised at the Karnavati Club Lawns on Sunday. The record participation has resulted in the event making an entry in the record books.
World Records India, a prestigious organisation that certifies various amazing feats, certified the housie competition as the “World’s largest tambola housie game”. A certificate of the world record was handed over to Karnavati Club President Naginbhai G Patel in the presence of other office-bearers of the club on Wednesday.
“We are thrilled that our housie event has been certified by World Records India. We were not able to organise the bumper housie competition for two years because of the pandemic. We wanted the competition this year to be extra special so that members could have fun. The overwhelming response by members made the housie event the largest yet. We would like to dedicate this record to the members whose participation paved the way for it,” said Naginbhai G Patel.
Karnavati Club has been hosting housie games for members for the past many years, but this was the first time prizes worth Rs. 1.25 crore were given to the winners. This was also by far the largest housie game of its kind in the state.
