Digestive health disorders remain among the most common yet under-addressed medical concerns in India. Nearly 70% of the population experiences symptoms such as acidity, bloating, constipation or indigestion, but fewer than half seek timely medical attention. Experts attribute this growing burden to changing dietary habits, increased intake of ultra-processed foods, irregular meal patterns, chronic stress, sedentary lifestyles and poor sleep hygiene. Alarmingly, conditions such as functional bowel disorders and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are now being seen at younger ages.
Established in response to these trends, the Kauvery Institute of Digestive Sciences adopts a multidisciplinary clinical model, integrating medical gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy, surgical gastroenterology and hepatology. This approach is further strengthened by preventive care strategies, personalised nutrition counselling and structured patient education programmes aimed at long-term disease management.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals, said, “Kauvery Institute of Digestive Sciences reflects our continued investment in centres of excellence that respond to real-world health challenges. By combining clinical expertise with preventive care, we aim to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients living with digestive disorders.”

Effective digestive healthcare today must go beyond symptom relief and focus on sustained lifestyle modification, preventive screening and timely intervention.”
