Leading full-service law firm Khaitan & Co has announced the opening of its new office in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) on Friday, marking a significant expansion into one of India’s fastest-growing financial and commercial hubs.
The development follows the firm’s Ahmedabad foray in 2024 and reinforces its strategic focus on Gujarat as a high-growth legal and business destination. As India’s premier International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), GIFT City has rapidly evolved into a nucleus for cross-border finance, investment structuring and global commercial activity—driving demand for specialised legal expertise.
Haigreve Khaitan, Managing Partner, Khaitan & Co, said, “Gujarat has emerged as an important hub for industrial growth, investment and economic development, making it a strategically significant region. Our new GIFT City office has been a natural next step for the Firm, enabling us to operate closer to a burgeoning financial ecosystem that is transforming global business dynamics. This move also allows us to engage more closely with our clients through specialised expertise across financial services, regulatory advisory and complex transactions, and build enduring partnerships.”
Siddharth Shah, Senior Partner, added, “GIFT City has strongly emerged as a key centre for global financial and commercial activity in India, supported by a distinct regulatory framework and rising global participation. Growth in areas such as GCCs, Global Treasury Centres, family office structuring, cross-border investment platforms and international debt capital market are creating unique opportunities within the IFSC ecosystem. Our new office enhances our ability to support clients and we are excited to be part of this growth journey.”
The new office integrates the firm’s full-spectrum capabilities—spanning financial services, corporate and M&A, investment funds, regulatory advisory, dispute resolution, project finance, real estate, tax, and aviation—catering to diverse business needs across sectors and geographies.
With this addition, GIFT City becomes the firm’s second base in Gujarat alongside Ahmedabad, strengthening its domestic and global network. The firm now operates eight offices across India and one in Singapore.
