ERODE, AUG 13
A 24-year-old labourer died while he was involved in connecting pipes in an underground drainage here on Thursday, police said.
The worker Anandhan was engaged by the Erode Municipal Corporation on contract to install the pipelines to take the sewage, when the soil caved in and he was buried alive.
On seeing this, the other workers raised an alarm. Soon, an earth-mover was pressed into service and the body of the worker was retrieved.
He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the police said. Further investigations have begun, they said.
