“This journey does not end here — it is only the beginning. Life will grant you many milestones, and at each step, you must keep learning. Learning never stops, whether one is a student, a teacher, or a leader,” said Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, delivering an inspiring keynote address at Karnavati University’s 6th Convocation Ceremony held in Gandhinagar on Thursday.

In a stirring speech that blended humility, patriotism, and wisdom, the Air Chief urged graduating students to embrace lifelong learning and moral grounding. “Wherever life takes you, stay grounded, stay humble, and remember to take pride in your roots. Be a good human being first — that is where true greatness begins. Anything that divides us is not good. Stay rooted to India — you are Indians first,” he said to thunderous applause from the gathering that included over 100 defence officials.

The ceremony began with a traditional prayer and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising knowledge and service. Ritesh Hada, President, Karnavati University, declared the convocation open and extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and graduating students.

Reflecting the university’s dedication to innovation and social progress, Hada said, “Serving Indian military services through our innovation and research is among the core and pure values at Karnavati University — along with teaching and advancing other streams of knowledge.”

In a highlight moment, Honorary Doctorate Degrees were conferred upon Air Chief Marshal AP Singh for his exemplary contribution to India’s defence and national security, and Saurabh Shukla, actor, filmmaker and journalist, for his outstanding work in cinema, storytelling and public thought.

Guest of Honour Saurabh Shukla urged students to value intellectual courage, empathy, and originality. “Knowledge is powerful only when coupled with compassion and curiosity,” he said, inspiring graduates to think boldly and act with conscience.

The convocation celebrated the achievements of 1,400 graduates from the university’s six distinguished schools — Design, Business, Liberal Arts & Mass Communication, Law, Technology, and Dentistry. Degrees and gold medals were awarded to meritorious students, followed by the administration of the Convocation Oath, affirming values of integrity, service, and ethical leadership.
