In a momentous coming together, Pulitzer nominee and Obie Award winning playwright Rajiv Joseph and celebrated director Feroz Abbas Khan present the play ‘Letters of Suresh’ in India. His formidable work encompasses K Asif’s flamboyance in ‘Mughal-e-Azam : The Musical’ and now for the first time after ‘Tumhari Amrita’, Khan returns with ‘Letters Of Suresh,’ a play that has enjoyed wide critical acclaim in the US. The well-reviewed play has been staged in the US many times but it will premiere in India at NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre), Mumbai from May 9 -12
Explaining why he chose an intimate format, Khan says, “Rajiv’s writing is complex and layered. The words and actors are at the center of this theatre experience. The imagination of the audience will be challenged. This has been the most overwhelming piece of work I have ever done. I have stayed awake for nights wondering how it will turn out”.
The play poignantly explores themes of love, loss, death, the search for peace and solace even amid acute existential loneliness. The four characters in the story pen letters to each other and have little in common except the need for human connection.
