Lieutenant General Anil Puri assumed the charge of General Officer Commanding Konark Corps on Tuesday. He took over the reins of Konark Corps from Lieutenant General VS Sreenivas, who during his tenure led Konark Corps to greater heights of professionalism, a Defence statement said.
On assuming Command of Konark Corps he exhorted all ranks to focus on operational preparedness with realistic training to achieve an exceptional level of military professionalism.
With distinguished Command Appointment in operational areas, Lieutenant General Puri possesses rich operational experience in Counter Insurgency Operations on the Line of Control, Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka and the Western Front. He has served in Sir Creek and Rann Sectors of Gujarat.
He has also had key Staff Appointments in premier training establishments as well as in the Army Headquarters, New Delhi.
An alumnus of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, he was commissioned in Madras Sappers in 1984 and Commanded the 201 Engineer Regiment. He has served in United Nation Missions in Mozambique and Sierra Leone.
The General officer has done his schooling primarily in Rajasthan from Bikaner Boys School, St Xavier’s Jaipur and Airforce Central School Jodhpur.
An avid sportsman who has excelled in all troop games. He has a passion for sailing and cycling.
He has completed several endurance rides of 1,000 km and more within the country. His most recent achievement (August 2019) was the completion of one of oldest and best-known international cycling events: the 1,200 km Paris – Brest – Paris.
