AHMEDABAD, APR 21
In a bold move that fuses sport, cinema and culture, Parthiv Gohil, Manasi Parekh and Dhaval Thakkar have unveiled a dual venture poised to redefine Gujarat’s entertainment landscape—the Gujarat Celebrity Cricket Premier League (GCPL) and the all-in-one filmmaking platform Filmwale.
Announced at a high-profile event in Ahmedabad, the initiative marks a significant step toward building a structured, scalable and globally relevant creative ecosystem in the state.
Where cricket meets culture
The GCPL, a first-of-its-kind league, will bring together Gujarati celebrities and digital creators across four teams—blending cricket with storytelling and live entertainment.
Explaining the vision, Parthiv Gohil said: “Gujarat has a rich cultural and musical legacy. GCPL is our attempt to bring that vibrancy onto the cricket field—where entertainment and sport merge to create a unique identity for the state.”
He emphasised that the league will not just be about matches, but about celebrating Gujarat’s artistic spirit through sport.
Beyond the game: Building a content powerhouse
For Manasi Parekh, GCPL is more than a sporting event—it is a storytelling engine.
“GCPL can evolve into a powerful content and entertainment property. With the right narratives, behind-the-scenes stories and digital engagement, it can go far beyond cricket and become a year-round content ecosystem,” she said.
The league aims to leverage OTT-style storytelling, celebrity engagement and fan-driven content to sustain long-term interest.
Cinema, celebrities & scale
Dhaval Thakkar highlighted the role of star power in building scale and sustainability.
“Cinema and celebrity influence will play a key role in attracting audiences and keeping them engaged. GCPL is designed to create a connect where fans engage not just with the game, but with personalities and stories,” he noted.
He added that strategic collaborations between film and sports industries would drive visibility, sponsorship and audience loyalty.
What sets GCPL apart
Addressing comparisons with other celebrity leagues, the trio underlined their differentiated vision.
“GCPL is not just another league—it’s a platform with a larger vision, deeper cultural roots and a focus on Gujarat’s identity, scale and long-term impact,” they said.
Unlike existing formats, GCPL aims to integrate regional pride, digital storytelling and structured growth into a single framework.
From spotlight to grassroots
The founders also stressed that the initiative will extend beyond entertainment into talent development.
“We want GCPL to contribute to grassroots sports by identifying and nurturing emerging talent in Gujarat. It’s about creating opportunities and pathways for aspiring players,” the panel emphasised.
This dual focus—mass entertainment and talent incubation—is expected to give the league a sustainable edge.

Filmwale: The industry’s missing link
Complementing GCPL is Filmwale, a comprehensive platform designed to streamline filmmaking.
Bringing together over 450 curated shooting locations, a vast talent pool, 150+ brands and a network of investors, Filmwale aims to solve key industry challenges—from discovery to financing.
“Filmwale is more than just an app—it’s an ecosystem where creators, collaborators and capital converge,” the team explained.
A New era for Gujarati entertainment
With upcoming film projects also in the pipeline, the initiative signals a shift toward a more organised and collaborative creative economy in Gujarat.
As the lines between sport, cinema and digital content blur, GCPL and Filmwale could well position Gujarat as a new-age entertainment powerhouse.
