CHENNAI, MAR 21
Blending the drama of cinema with the vibrancy of retail, Max Fashion staged a show-stopping launch of its newest store in Valasaravakkam, Chennai—its 34th in the city and 71st in Tamil Nadu—turning a conventional opening into a full-blown cinematic celebration.
The evening unfolded like a movie premiere, complete with immersive moments and a dramatic reveal by actor Kayadu Lohar, whose magnetic presence elevated the launch into a cultural spectacle. The actress officially inaugurated the store, symbolising the seamless intersection of fashion, fandom, and storytelling.
Spread across 14,000 sq. ft., the new store introduces Max Fashion’s ‘new identity’ format, offering a spacious, intuitive, and design-forward shopping experience. With clearly demarcated sections for women, men, and kids, the layout ensures effortless navigation while encouraging leisurely browsing for families and young shoppers.
The contemporary aesthetic, open floor plan, and structured flow underline the brand’s evolving retail philosophy—one that prioritises comfort, accessibility, and immersive engagement.

“Chennai has always been one of our most dynamic and culturally vibrant markets, and the launch of our Valasaravakkam store reflects our continued commitment to growing alongside its evolving fashion community. With this opening, we wanted to create more than just a retail destination; we wanted to design an experience that feels rooted in the city’s love for cinema and storytelling,” said Sumit Chandan, CEO, Max Fashion India.
Reinforcing its ambitious growth trajectory, he added:
“We are planning to open around 40-50 stores nationally in the next year. This new identity store format will be followed in all our upcoming stores and some of our already existing stores will also be converted to this format.”
Highlighting the brand’s deepening footprint in the state, Sathish Kumar, Regional Business Head, Max Fashion noted:
“We are delighted to mark the opening of our 34th store in Chennai and 71st in Tamil Nadu, a milestone that reflects our strong growth momentum in the region. Currently we have presence across Tamilnadu in Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Nagercoil, etc. We are planning to take the number of stores in Tamilnadu to 100 in the next 2 years.”
A rising star across multiple film industries, Kayadu Lohar brought a relatable yet aspirational charm to the event, resonating strongly with Gen Z audiences. Her presence underscored the brand’s alignment with youthful energy and contemporary style narratives.

“Being part of this launch felt incredibly special because it celebrated two things Chennai truly loves—cinema and fashion. The energy of the evening, the audience excitement, and the cinematic reveal made it feel like stepping into a film moment. Max Fashion represents style that is accessible, expressive, and youthful, which makes it easy for people to experiment with fashion in their everyday lives. I loved interacting with everyone here and experiencing the store firsthand,” -said Kayadu Lohar.
With Chennai continuing to rank among its strongest markets, Max Fashion is tapping into a fast-growing base of trend-conscious consumers who seek a balance between affordability and self-expression. The Valasaravakkam store stands as a testament to this shift—where shopping evolves into an experience, and fashion becomes a story waiting to be lived.
