Thai Vietjet, a Thai registered low-cost airline, on Tuesday announced its new international services from Ahmedabad to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), starting on October 1, 2022, Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of the airline said on Tuesday.
Thai VietJet’s expansion plans include connecting other cities as well. According to Laprabang, the airline is looking to scale up and add six aircraft this year and another eight aircraft in the following year as a part of its international expansion. He added that the airline is looking to expand in Indo-China, the Association of South East Asian region, and in North Asia to countries like Korea, Japan, and China. The airline expects to have a fleet of 50 aircraft by 2026.

To celebrate the launch of the new international service, the airline is also announced a special promotion – Fly Comfy, Fly Deluxe – offering special deluxe fares starting from THB 4,499 (Rs 9,882) (inclusive of taxes, fees, and surcharges) for traveling on Thai Vietjet’s new international service Ahmedabad – Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi). The special deluxe service includes 7 kg carry-on and 20 kg of checked baggage, free seat selection, priority check-in and flexibility with unlimited flight changes at no charge. This special promotion is available for booking from 20 – 27 July 2022, with a travel period from October 01 , 2022 – March 25, 2023.
Pinyot Pibulsonggram, Director Commercial, Thai VietJet added that the airline will be the first to fly direct on this route although in the past there have been some airlines, including some Indian low-cost airlines which operated on the route.
Currently, Thai Vietjet is operating double daily flight services from Bangkok to Phnom Penh, while operating daily flight services between Bangkok and Singapore. The airline will also operate the direct flight from Bangkok to Fukuoka, starting July 16, 2022.
In addition, Thai Vietjet, in cooperation with Vietjet Group has remained stable flight services between Thailand and Vietnam: from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City with a frequency of up to 4 flights daily, and since March 2022, has resumed direct service between Bangkok and Da Nang, with the frequency of two flights per day.
With a fleet of 16 Aircraft (A320 and A321), over 10 Million passengers have flown with Thai Vietjet since the commencement of its first commercial flight in 2016.
Currently, fully vaccinated passengers entering Thailand are no longer required to possess a certificate of COVID-19 test prior to entering the country nor undertake quarantine upon arrival. Passengers are also not required to apply for Thailand Pass before departure.
As the Fastest Growing Low-cost Carrier of the Year 2020 (awarded by Global Business Outlook Magazine, London), Thai Vietjet has continuously expanded its flight network, both domestic and international. The airline has recently been awarded the ‘New Airline Award’ of the Changi Airline Award 2022 for commencing flight services to Changi Airport despite COVID-19, highlighting the airline’s contributions toward maintaining the resilience of the Singapore air hub during the pandemic.
