The Loyola Alumni Association — Chennai Chapter (LAA CC), the largest chapter in the global alumni network of Loyola College Chennai, hosted its Annual Chapter Meet 2026, bringing together an impressive gathering of Loyolites across generations in a celebration of fellowship, mentorship and shared purpose.

The evening marked the formal unveiling of a comprehensive year-long programme calendar aimed at deepening alumni engagement, strengthening student mentorship, and advancing impactful community initiatives.

  • Tamil Nadu IT & Digital Services Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan joins thought leaders to celebrate the transformative power of education and alumni engagement
  • Partnership with Loyola’s Inclusive Innovation Impact Centre to accelerate startups and student innovation
  • Internships, externships and exclusive alumni job fairs to strengthen career pathways for students and graduates
  • Multi-generation gathering of Loyolites signals renewed commitment to mentorship, networking and social responsibility

The event was graced by distinguished personalities, including Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for IT & Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu; Sujith Kumar, Founder of Maatram Foundation; and noted actor, writer and film historian Mohan Raman.

The speakers reflected on the enduring influence of education, the importance of mentorship, and the power of alumni networks in shaping society.

Year-long programme: driving innovation, careers & community

At the centre of the evening’s announcements was a structured three-pillar programme for the coming year, designed to actively involve alumni in institutional growth and student development.

Key initiatives include

1. Partnership with the Loyola Inclusive Innovation Impact Centre (L3IC)

The Chennai Chapter will collaborate with Loyola Inclusive Innovation Impact Centre, the college’s startup incubation hub, to channel alumni expertise from industry and academia to mentor student entrepreneurs and accelerate innovation.

2. Internships and Externships

A structured programme will help Loyola students access internship and externship opportunities through alumni networks, strengthening practical learning and career readiness.

3. Exclusive Alumni Job Fairs

Dedicated job fairs for alumni will be organised to enhance professional networking and employment opportunities within the Loyolite community.

Voices from the Leadership

Karthik Sabanayagam, President of LAA CC and Founder & Managing Director of Sree Sumangala Group, emphasised the chapter’s vision of meaningful engagement.

“The Chennai Chapter continues to bring Loyolites together through meaningful programmes and shared experiences. The initiatives announced today will open more opportunities for alumni to connect with the college, interact with students, and participate in activities that benefit the wider community. We look forward to enthusiastic participation from members as these programmes unfold during the year.”

Rev. Dr. A. Louie Albert SJ, Director of the Loyola Alumni Association, highlighted the enduring strength of the alumni network.

“The Loyola alumni network has always played an important role in the life of the institution. Initiatives such as these help bring alumni closer to the college and create opportunities for collaboration with students and the community. It is encouraging to see Loyolites come together in large numbers and continue the spirit of fellowship that Loyola stands for.”

With the launch of this forward-looking annual calendar, the Loyola Alumni Association — Chennai Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to connecting generations of Loyolites not merely through celebration, but through collaboration, mentorship and service.

Alumni and students have been encouraged to actively participate in the programmes set to unfold over the coming months, strengthening the legacy of Loyola’s community-driven education.
