In a resounding celebration of ambition, innovation, and youth excellence, the IndiaSkills Regional Competition 2025–26 for Western India concluded at Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, with Maharashtra and Gujarat emerging as the region’s brightest champions and torchbearers of India’s skilled future.

Organised under the IndiaSkills initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and supported by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the competition brought together more than 300 talented youth from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Goa. Participants competed across 63 cutting-edge skill categories aligned with global industry standards, including Robot Systems Integration, Renewable Energy, Software Development, CNC Milling, Autonomous Robotics, and Unmanned Aerial Systems.

Maharashtra No. 1, Gujarat No. 2: Western States Showcase Skilling Leadership

Maharashtra topped the medal tally with an impressive 65 awards, followed by Gujarat with 44 medals, underscoring the two states’ sustained investments in skill development, technical education, and industry-ready talent.

In total, 193 outstanding performers were honoured, including 59 Gold, 59 Silver, 42 Bronze, and 33 Medallions for Excellence. Significantly, 47 women winners demonstrated the growing momentum of women’s participation and leadership in technical and future-oriented skill domains.

These achievements reaffirm Western India’s emergence as a national engine of skilled human capital, aligned with India’s vision of becoming a global skills powerhouse.

Talent Pipeline Strengthens India’s Global Competitiveness

Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, said:

“The scale, quality, and competitive spirit witnessed at the IndiaSkills Regional Competition in Gandhinagar reflect the strength of our skilling ecosystem in the western region. With participants competing across future-focused skill domains, we are seeing a decisive shift towards inclusive and industry-aligned skill development. The strong performance of Maharashtra and Gujarat demonstrates how sustained state-level investments are translating into national excellence. IndiaSkills serves as a structured talent pipeline that prepares our youth to compete on global platforms such as WorldSkills. As we move towards Viksit Bharat, building a workforce that is technically competent, globally benchmarked, and innovation-driven remains central to our vision.”

The medal winners will now progress deeper into the IndiaSkills ecosystem, strengthening India’s national talent pipeline and gaining opportunities to represent the country at prestigious global platforms such as WorldSkills.

Massive Nationwide Participation Reflects Skilling Momentum

The ongoing IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 has already recorded one of the broadest participation footprints in India’s history, with over 3.65 lakh candidates registering from 35 States and Union Territories through the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH).

The regional competition plays a pivotal role in identifying and nurturing India’s finest young professionals, through collaboration among central and state governments, industry leaders, Sector Skill Councils, and academic institutions.

Western India Emerges as Engine of Skilled Nation

With exceptional performances across advanced sectors such as Industry 4.0, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Mechatronics, and Renewable Energy, the competition highlighted Western India’s growing contribution to India’s transformation into a global hub for skilled talent.

Aligned with flagship national missions such as Skill India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat, IndiaSkills continues to empower youth, strengthen employability, and fuel India’s rise as a global innovation and manufacturing powerhouse.
