Major fire broke out at the Defence Public Sector Hindustan Aeronauticals Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru on Wednesday morning around 9 a.m. Over ten fire tenders were rushed to HAL to douse the Fire and Rescue Department.
Large quantities of magnesium is believed to have caught fire inside a yard at HAL Foundry & Forge division. According to a release, the HAL said that the fire broke out at around 9 a.m. at scrap yard of HAL’s F & F Division at old Airport Road in Bengaluru. The scrap included magnesium metal. The fire has now been contained by dry chemical fire extinguishers by the fire fighting personnel.
There is no damage to any property and no casualty reported due to the fire and an investigation to probe the fire is on, said Gopal Sutar, Chief of Media Communications department. Further details are awaited.
