Malayalam actor Ravi Vallathol, aged 67, breathed his last at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was ailing for a couple of years and had succumbed to age-related illness on Saturday. The actor had stopped doing films and Malayalam serials because of his health condition.
Part I of the American Dreams Television Serial, for which, actor Ravi Vallathol was conferred with Kerala State Award for best actor.
Ravi is the son of drama artiste TN Gopinathan Nair and Soudamini and nephew of poet Vallathol Narayana Menon. He is survived by his wife Geetha Lakshmi.
He made his acting debut in Mollywood with Swathi Thirunal, which was directed by late filmmaker Lenin Rajendran. Ravi was known for his serious and intense characters in films and series. In his career spanning three decades, he acted in over 50 films and several television shows.
Some of his notable works include Season, Godfather, Chathurangam, Vidheyan, Kottayam Kunjachan, Idukki Gold and many more.
Ravi was a multi-faceted person and had written more than 25 short stories. It is said that two of his stories titled Devaranjini and Nimanjanam were developed into television series.
He was one of the celebrated actors in the television industry. Ravi made his small screen debut with Vaitharani, which was written by his father Gopinathan Nair. He was conferred with Kerala State Award for best actor in the television series, American Dreams (2003).
