R ARIVANANTHAM
It’s testing time for fans to observe teenage love stories again and again in Tamil cine industry. Although ‘Marakkuma Nenjam’ has been made with a little twist, the first half has been made with lackluster and the second half offers some solace.
Karthik (Rakshan), who fell in love with his fellow student Priyadarshini (Melina) while studying Plus Two, remains like ‘Ithayam’ Murali without expressing his love. After a decade, the duo meet again. The story is whether Karthik expressed his love at least this time or not.
‘Reunion’ stories where school and college students meet again after some time often have the same frame. In this film, 10 years ago, the students who studied in the same class in a school are forced to come to the school for three months, study plus two subjects and retake the exam, which has given impetus to the screenplay.
Trailer:
The romance between the physical education teacher and the math teachers is exceptionally captivating. However, it could have been done in a better way and romanticized.
Karthi-Priyadarshini’s reunion, 10 years of work life and family life teaches ex-students maturity, the way they use the opportunity to participate in the school anniversary program, the anguish of those who forget to hold a pen and write when they sit for the exam again, Debut director IKo Yogendran captures the thoughts and feelings of 2K Kids beautifully.
The role of a schoolboy suits Rakshan perfectly. But he still has to learn a lot in honing the acting skills. His senior anchor from Vijay TV, Sivakarthikeyan, had made a niche for himself by learning the tricks of the tinsel world and continues to improve it with each film.
Melina who plays Priyadarshini is beautiful and attractive too. Despite these factors she failed to do well in love scenes. Those who play her girlfriends have given natural performances. Deena’s performance and the dance performance of ‘Prankster’ Rahul cannot be faulted. The film would have gained strength if the character contribution of Muniskanth, who is a physical education teacher, had been added.
Gobi Duraisamy has tried to bring the greenery of Nagercoil and the stream into the cinematography as a symbol of undying love. Sachin Warrier’s songs and background music exudes the adoration of youth.
