People from all walks of life bid a tearful adieu to Naik Rathod Jashavantsinh Jagansinh, who was martyred in a cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, says a Defence release.

Naik Rathod Jashavantsinh Jagansinh of Gujarat was killed in a cross-border firing by Pakistani troops along the LoC on Saturday.

Jagansinh’s last rites were performed with full military honours at Memadpur Village, Vadgam Tehsil, Banaskantha on Tuesday.

The martyr’s body, wrapped in the tricolour, was brought in a Army vehicle. A large number of people gathered to pay their last respects to the martyr, who had joined the force nearly 10 years ago.

The mortal remains of Jagansinh were flown by Air India AI 531 to Ahmedabad on Monday at around 9:30 pm.

Jagansinh’s body, wrapped in tricolour, was extended full military honours by the officers and troops at Ahmedabad Cantonment, a press statement said.

Afterwards, it was handed over to his relatives and moved for cremation in his native place at Memadpur Village under a military escort.
