A pharma factory was gutted following a massive fire in Vapi of Valsad district in Gujarat on Saturday afternoon. More than 12 fire tenders were pressed into service to contain the blaze. However, there was no casualty, sources said.
According to official sources, chemicals stored in drums exploded at a pharmaceutical company in Vapi GIDC causing a massive fire. The billowing smoke could be seen from a distance of one kilometre. However, the fire has been brought under control by the fire brigade, and cooling operations have been started. No casualty was reported in the fire accident.
A fire broke out at Shakti Bio, a pharma company, in Vapi GIDC. in the chemical. Vapi fire brigade rushed to the spot and started controlling the fire. Fire tenders from Vapi municipality, Umbergaon industrial area were rushed in to contain the raging fire.
Fire Brigade in-charge S.S. Patel said it was initially reported that a short circuit could have caused the fire. The company was only 10 percent operational and the employees had escaped unhurt.
