Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy and Minister of State (MoS) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, R. K. Singh presented the 29th National Energy Conservation Awards in New Delhi on Saturday, National energy Conservation Day. It was organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the guidance of Ministry of Power, Government of India.
Chief guest Singh presented the best energy conservation award in textile category to ecopreneur Viral Desai. Incidentally, Viral Desai is the Chairman of the Energy and Renewable Energy Committee of the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce (SGCCI) and CEO of Zenitex Private Limited, a Surat-based SME.
This is for the fifth time ecopreneur Viral Desai has been bestowed with the National Awards. Desai and his company Zenitex have so far bagged four national awards of the Ministry of Energy out of which they have ranked first three times in the country. Apart from this, he has been awarded a National Award.
Commenting on this award, Desai said, “Energy saving is the moral duty of all of us and if we truly love our country, we all have to save energy at our own level. I take every step of the way in conserving energy not just in my home, but also in my company Zenitex. The Government of India has appreciated this work from time to time. I am grateful to the Government of India and Prime Minister Modi for this. ”
Energy Minister R. K. Singh highlighted the importance of energy conservation in the country’s sustainable development approach and emphasised the need for taking measures to reduce CO2 emission so as to minimise the adverse impacts of climate change, lauding the outcome and efforts of the BEE programme and complimenting the industry for making efforts in implementing various schemes.
