Plastic waste is a significant environmental issue. In a green initiative aimed at addressing the plastic menace, the WAY Foundation’s Mission Pen Plus initiative is being implemented in Ahmedabad schools. Under this new initiative, students are learning about the environmental damage caused by discarded plastic pens.

An awareness event at Kalorex Future School, supported by Pen Pals Corporate, featured Pen Pals founder Richa Johri, who highlighted that 6 billion pens are used globally in a year without a proper disposal system. She encouraged students to use metal or fountain pens and to collect used plastic pens for repurposing.

Collected plastic pens are transformed into useful items like bookstands, T-coasters, photo frames, standing lights, tables, and chairs.
