ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel on Monday announced that it has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani to provide an e-learning programme, a release said.

Under this pact, sponsored B.Tech. Process Engineering degree through Work Integrated Learning Programme without the need for a career break will be offered its employees.

Facilitated through digital infrastructure over three and half years, the higher education programme will help strengthen employees’ technical foundation and build a strong knowledge base, preparing them to work more efficiently through this skill upgradation opportunity, the release added.

The course is spread across seven semesters and would be conducted digitally by the BITS, Pilani faculty. The course also provides enlisted employees easy access to the institute’s online state-of-the-art laboratories and libraries as well as to a plethora of recorded lectures on all relevant topics. As part of the course, one semester would be dedicated to practical learning through projects.

Sharing his perspective regarding this announcement  Anil Matoo, Chief People Officer, AM/NS India said, “In our quest for creating smarter steel, learning is an endless journey. Our employees are our most valuable asset and we continuously strive to enhance our employees’ competency levels through various learning initiatives.”

“We are proud to have partnered with BITS Pilani as they are amongst one of the best technical education institutes in the country. We are confident that this programme will help build a strong knowledge base and confidence in our young and aspiring engineers and help them face challenging assignments as they grow with AM/NS India,” Matoo added.

The unique skill upgradation opportunity has been designed and implemented by AM/NS India to further strengthen the technical foundation & competencies of its engineers thereby ensuring seamless operations of its manufacturing plants.
