Women have a natural knack for numbers and so there are several instances of them doing well in finance sector. Despite challenges of culture and access to capital, female participation in trading and investing is increasing albeit cautiously, and they are vying to be taken seriously. Incidentally, the country’s Finance Ministry is helmed by a woman.
To cash in on this and boost the morale of female investors, FICCI FLO Ahmedabad chapter recently organized a webinar on ‘The Women on Dalal street’ where the panel consisted of three women — Avni Shah, Mahek Shah, Priyal Bagri — who have kicked up a storm in the stock market and have recently featured on Forbes India.
The guest speakers shared their journey along with insights, ups and downs and tips on how one could enter the market. The stock market, traditionally, has been a male domain. The reason being varied technicalities of the trade, risk factor and being volatile in nature. But more Indian women are now taking up trading and investing. This not only gives them financial independence but also flexibility.

- Avoid the herd mentality, just do your own research.
This innovative and informative Webinar was organized by Nandita Munshaw, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Ahmedabad Chapter and joined by the FLO members of Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi & Kolkata. It was moderated by prolific Reporter and Journalist Divya Shekhar.
FICCI FLO has been continuously supporting the Start-ups. For this year too FLO will continue to support FLO Entrepreneurs, through their Startup Cell.
FICCI FLO, PAN India, has 200+ women-led startups, breaking the geographical boundaries for members to receive support to either start or scale up their business. At Ahmedabad Chapter, the Startup Cell will be steered by the FLO members Phani Trivedi and Yogita Sethi leading various initiatives planned by the National Team.
This year FLO has planned a virtual incubator, certified mentorship development program to become certified FLO mentors, they have mentor mentee mapping to connect FLO members with the right expert of any incubator or accelerator with whom FLO has tied up or signed MoUs. The geographical boundaries will no more be a hurdle for members to receive support to either start or scale up their business. They have now introduced a new vertical named FLO Angels whereby FLO members who are HNIs will get training to become Investors. They will then invest in Startups.
