AHMEDABAD, OCT 12

With more than 500 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) already registered, including 250 from Gujarat, the 15th India Industrial Fair – UDYAM 2026 is set to turn Gandhinagar into a national meeting ground for manufacturers, buyers and technology providers from October 23 to 26.

Organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), Gujarat Region, the four-day fair will be held at the Helipad Exhibition Centre (HEC), Gandhinagar. The organisers expect the event to draw more than one lakh visitors, while its stated agenda extends beyond product displays to business-to-business (B2B) meetings, seminars, technology exchange and new commercial partnerships.

Speaking at a press conference, Jaykalp Patel, President of LUB’s Karnavati unit, said: “The 15th India Industrial Fair – UDYAM 2026 is being organized by Laghu Udyog Bharati – Gujarat Region.” He said the fair would provide a platform for industrialists to exchange ideas, network and explore business opportunities.

From exhibition stalls to business partnerships

UDYAM 2026 aims to bring MSME units, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, technology providers, buyers and industrial associations together under one roof. The objective is to help smaller businesses showcase products, identify new customers and suppliers, explore modern manufacturing methods and build links with larger companies and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The programme is expected to cover engineering, machinery, manufacturing, automation, tooling, casting, industrial equipment and other production-related industries. Organisers also see opportunities to strengthen supplier networks serving sectors such as defence and aerospace.

Seminars and B2B meetings are planned to facilitate the exchange of ideas and help businesses identify potential partners. The fair is also intended to give startups and technology-driven enterprises a platform to present innovative products and solutions to established industrial players.

Four sectors take centre stage

Vajubhai Vaghasiya, Kshetriya Prabhari of LUB, said the fair would feature participation from four major sectors—plastic, pharmaceuticals, engineering and chemicals.

“After agriculture, over 5.5 crore MSMEs in the country provide [the] largest employment,” Vaghasiya said, highlighting the importance of small businesses to India’s employment and industrial ecosystem.

He added that MSMEs would use the organisation’s platform to raise issues affecting their operations with the government and seek mutually acceptable solutions.

Founded in 1994, Laghu Udyog Bharati is a national organisation working to promote micro and small industries and expand opportunities for entrepreneurs. Its stated mission includes strengthening indigenous manufacturing and supporting the growth of MSMEs.

Chief Minister to inaugurate the fair

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel is scheduled to inaugurate UDYAM 2026 on October 23. State Science and Technology Minister Arjunbhai Modhwadia is also expected to attend, along with national and regional representatives of Laghu Udyog Bharati.

The invited dignitaries include Prakashchandji, Rashtriya Sangathan Mahamantri, LUB; Madhusudan Dadu, National President; Om Prakash Gupta, National Secretary; Ghanshyam Ojha, Gujarat Prabhari; and Baldevbhai Prajapati, Kshetriya Prabhari.

The fair is supported by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Odhav Industries Association, Kathwada Industries Association, Naroda Industries Association, Santej Industries Association, Sanand Industries Association, Vatva Industries Association and other district-level associations associated with LUB.

MSMEs look to technology and new markets

As competition intensifies, technology adoption, automation, research and innovation are becoming increasingly important for smaller manufacturers. UDYAM 2026 aims to encourage collaboration between startups, technology companies and established industrial enterprises to accelerate product development and broaden market access.

The organisers say the exhibition will also promote indigenous manufacturing and contribute to the wider objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. Its eventual value, however, will depend on the business leads converted into orders, partnerships and sustained opportunities for participating enterprises.
