Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said India’s first bullet train service will commence very soon, and it will cut the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to two hours and seven minutes.
“The first bullet train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will start very soon, and the work on the project is going on at a fast pace. When it starts running, the journey from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will take only two hours and seven minutes,” Vaishnaw said.
India’s first bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will span 508 kilometres. It will start from the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area in Mumbai, and connect to Gujarat’s Vapi, Surat, Anand, Vadodara and Ahmedabad, running at a high speed of 320 km per hour.
Addressing a gathering here, he also gave details of the upcoming railway projects in Gujarat, including a new train between Porbandar and Rajkot, a Rs 135-crore coach maintenance facility at Ranavav station, a railway flyover in Porbandar city, two Gati Shakti cargo terminals, and a container terminal at an upcoming port in Bhavnagar.
In a significant development for rail infrastructure, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday flagged off three new express trains from Bhavnagar Station, enhancing connectivity across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
The new train services began today, are Bhavnagar-Ayodhya Express (Weekly Service), Rewa-Pune (Hadapsar) Express and Jabalpur-Raipur Express.
The Bhavnagar–Ayodhya Express will link western and northern India, catering to religious and general travellers alike.
The Rewa–Pune Express strengthens direct travel between Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, offering a convenient route to Pune.
Similarly, the Jabalpur–Raipur Express, launched today, will directly connect Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh that will address to fulfilling a long-pending public demand.
The launch events were marked by the presence of key dignitaries ,including Dr Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, who joined the inauguration ceremony from Bhopal and in Raipur, respectively.
The new Jabalpur–Raipur Express is expected to significantly ease passenger movement between the two states.
In addition to reducing travel time, the train will-Boost interstate trade and commerce, enhance local tourism and cultural exchange, said CM Vishnu Deo Sai expressing gratitude to the RailwayMinister.

The details of the newly approved projects announced by Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnav and Mansukhbhai Mandaviya are as follows. The details of the approved projects are as follows.
New Train Services Approved : Two new train services have been approved to start between Porbandar and Rajkot via Bansjalia and Jetalsar . One of these trains will run daily and the other train will run five days a week.
New stoppages approved : For the convenience of passengers , the following trains have been given stoppages at new stations:
- Train numbers 11463/64, 11465/66, 19251/52, and 19319/20 will stop at Nawagarh station .
- Train numbers 12945/46 and 19203/04 will get a stoppage at Jetpur station .
- Train number 59557/60 has been stopped at Ranavav station .
- Train number 59557/60 will also stop at Khodiyar Mandir station .
New Railway Line Approved : Final Location Survey ( FLS) for a new railway line between Saradia and Bansjalia has been approved, accepting a 120-year-old demand.
Maintenance Facility : Approval has been received to build a new coach maintenance hub at Ranavav station at an estimated cost of Rs. 135.64 crore.
New Road Overbridge : The feasibility of constructing a new road overbridge at Level Crossing No. 3 near Bhadrakali Gate in Porbandar city has been examined and its General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) is being prepared.
New underpass : A proposal has also been made for the construction of an underpass near Nawagarh railway station.
