MUMBAI, OCT 28
Disputes among builders, developers, and residents are not new in Mumbai. Agitations are always going on in many residential complexes in Mumbai due to non-compliance with the genuine demands of the residents, some of which are sub judice, say residents of Vasant Oasis complex at Andheri East here.
The developer of Vasant Oasis complex at Andheri East has decided to make a stack parking facility in the common open space in gross violation of BMC laws. The residents assert that space is meant for walking, and playing only.
Upset by the developer’s illegal plan of encroaching their rights, the residents of Vasant Oasis, especially kids and women, took out a protest rally on Monday morning and attempted to clear the parking lot. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 also took part in the morning march. All residents had made a human chain and staged a Thali Bajao protest.
Speaking to navjeevanexpress.com, the residents said they have lodged complaints with the competent Maharashtra government authorities and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to restrain the developer from constructing the stack parking on the common facility site. They further added that the stack parking would take away the playground facility of kids & senior citizens walking on the podium area.
Every Mumbaikar has realized the importance of staying healthy during the last six months of lockdown. In the last few years, many developers have come forward to provide facilities like playgrounds for children, cycle tracks, jogging tracks and meditation and yoga facilities for senior citizens in the residential complex but now developers are encroaching open spaces of the societies which are more harmful & risky.
