- Telangana CM seeks NABARD support for women SHG managed solar projects

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Chairman Shaji K V has called on Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday and appraised him about the bank’s various ongoing initiatives in the State.
“NABARD Chairman appraised the Chief Minister of various interventions by NABARD in Telangana like Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance (NIDA), Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF) and Strengthening of Cooperative Sector in the State during the meeting. It is pertinent to mention that NABARD extend financial support to Telangana State for infrastructure projects on Agriculture, Irrigation, Drinking water supply, Dairy development, Oil palm plantation, Food Park, Secondary School, Primary Health Centres, Veterinary College and procurement operations,” a NABARD statement said.
Scope for further collaborations in Power sector projects, including Solar through TGGENCO and TGTRANSCO, Solar Powerplants setup through Rural Women SHGs, Construction of Rural Godowns for safe storage through SHGs for utilization by Civil Supplies Corporation, Palm oil extraction and processing through Telangana Oilseed Federation, MSME sector and Rural Tourism sector, Dairy and Fishery sector and other Infrastructure projects were also discussed.
Chairman NABARD assured all possible collaboration with Telangana Government for its efforts in Agriculture and Rural Development including Cooperative sector which is the backbone of Agriculture. Possibilities of joining hands with NABARD in respect of Central Sector Scheme on Cooperation among Cooperatives for the mutual benefit of Dairy & Fishery cooperatives and District Central Cooperative Banks and promotion of New MPACS were also discussed.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has proposes NABARD a special scheme for women’s self-help groups (SHGs) and suggested linking the management of solar plants provided to SHG to ensure better financial sustainability. He also sought low-interest loans under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for various state projects.
Additionally, Revanth Reddy requested NABARD’s cooperation in enhancing Telangana’s rice milling capacity by integrating Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP), godowns, and rice mills.
He stressed the need to boost micro-irrigation initiatives and establish new cooperative societies to improve rural livelihoods.
He directed officials to ensure the full utilization of NABARD-sanctioned funds for the current financial year by March 31 and highlighted maximizing the benefits of NABARD schemes in the next financial year.
Chief Minister has assured all possible support to NABARD in development of the State.
NABARD Chairman was accompanied by B Uday Bhaskar, Chief General Manager (CGM), Telangana Regional Office. Ramakrishna Rao, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Telangana; Dr. B Gopi, IAS, Director Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Government of Telangana; Chandrasekhara Reddy, IAS, Secretary to Chief Minister; Kodanda Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Farmers’ Welfare Commission and Tandur MLA B Manohar Reddy were also present during the meeting.
